The modernisation of the Charities Act - discussion document released

Update: The due date of the public consultation has been extended to 31 May, 2019.

The Government is modernising the Charities Act 2005 to ensure the Act works effectively for charities, their staff and volunteers, and the public. The Department of Internal Affairs policy team is managing the process, independently of Charities Services, has released the discussion document to help inform public consultation.

The public consultation will run from 22 February 2019 to 30 April 2019. The document outlines key issues and asking specific questions to help members of the public share their experiences of the Act.

You are encouraged to attend a community meeting(external link), and have your say by sending in a written submission in response to the discussion document.
